I’m paid and submitted for my first NFA, a CZ Scorpion SBR. On the engraving, how do I have to put my name?
Example A: BoJack Horseman - Hollywoo, CA
Example B: BJ Horseman - Hollywoo, CA

If that was the answer…every one of mine would be wrong.

I did efile and just rechecked my Form 1. It is the same as this with 4h being blank.

Every F1 I've done has 4h blank and it doesn't cause an issue. For engraving I just use my name/location as is spelled out elsewhere on the approved form.

Moving into speculation, I can't imagine that anyone would get themselves in hot water over a minute difference in naming convention on the engraving vs form. IE if you leave your middle initial out, I suspect you'd be just fine. Grain of salt.

Grain of salt until der ATF Handlanger decides it isn't.

Would a person’s name sans their middle initial still count as a recognized abbreviation? Does the statute define what constitutes a recognized abbreviation?

(iii) Your name (or recognized abbreviation) and also, when applicable, the name of the foreign manufacturer or maker;

87 years, still cannot figure out maker's name and city, state where made, despite several pages of instructions.

Last paper F1 I did (2017), I spelled out my full name (first, middle, last), with suffix in 3b, and only used first initial (and full last name), no suffix, in 4h ..... approved no problem

The last paper form 1 I did, in about 2017, was rejected.  In box 4H I put, “J Doe”. First Initial, last name.

On previous form 1s I have put either “Jon Doe” or “Jonathan Doe” . I have always skipped my middle initial.
