Looking for a budget bolt action 300 BO rifle for occasional hunting (100-150 yds) whitetail/Hog. Would be suppressed majority of the time with a GA Reece 7.

What brand/model would be your suggestion?
Ran across a decent deal on a lightly used Savage Axis2 in a lgs.

I have a rancher and it's pretty accurate, haven't shot it a ton

The Ruger American Ranch is nice and cheap and comes threaded 5/8x24.

My 1st suggestion is the Howa Mini action but unfortunately they discontinued it earlier this year.  Please let me know if you find a couple because I still want another.

The Ruger Ranch would be my 2nd choice but the action just doesn’t seem as smooth as the Howa.  Still does the job and has threaded barrel too.

I have a Remington 700 take off barrel if you have a factory action available  ?

He says it's an aftermarket 1:5 but it looks like a cut down 1:7 howa barrel to me. Maybe JTac used a the same profile on their early ones.

My Ruger American has served me well.  I also have the 308 and 22 mag versions.  For the money they are excellent value.  The stocks are kinda cheap though.  I've upgraded my 308 into the Magpul.  Magpul has dragged their feet on releasing the AR15 magazine version.  Soon Im hoping to setup my 300blk American in one too.

What kind of precision are you getting with the RAR in 300bo with subs?
