I've been reloading for 30+ years.  I I have a decent supply of the older powders for example I always have 8 lbs of Unique on hand.  For 9mm I's used PB for 9mm.  For 20+ years it has been very reliable.
However there are new powders with materials that help clean a handgun,
I've chosen Power Pistol to work up some loads and then perhaps get ready if Biden is elected.
I've loaded 124 grain Montana Gold with 6.5 grains of PP.  How far can I go in a HK P30+

I'd back that off a bit.  an extra 100fps is not worth it when your magspring and rounds blow out the bottom of you gun.

5.7gr is max in my SIERRA and Hornady book. 124/125gr

6.5 is the max in my SIERRA book for a 115gr,...6.7gr for 115/hornady

...............................here's some of my chrony data from a few years ago............................................

4.25" M&P

9mm 115XTP 1.093"

7.2gr Power Pistol  1367 fps

6.5 UNIQUE  1393 fps

8.5 BlueDot  1382 fps

5.7 WSF 1221 fps.

---------------------------------------------

124gr XTP 1.093"

7.9 BlueDot  1300 fps

5.8 UNIQUE 1269 fps

5.7 PowerPistol 1118 fps

6.7 HS6 1185 fps

* these are max loads, taken from Load data books like SIERRA, Lyman, Speer, etc,  or reputable websites like http://www.hodgdonreloading.com/..... as always, work up with caution and common sense.

Thank you. I think an HK will do ok with them, but since I use these bullets for going to schools I will back off a bit.  I sponsor Mas Ayoob once a year and shoot the instructor course and it is embarrassing ti have ammo that doesn't work.

I have loaded Power Pistol far hotter than that in 9major and it did OK. It is a pretty safe powder to run at max book loads, but if your gun has a loose chamber or much of a feedramp cut into it you may have issues pushing it.

Montana Gold bullets are copper washed (plated) lead right? You should use lead data when reloading them.

My load for 121 grain Hornady .356" HAP bullets (jacketed) is only 5.0 grains using CCI-550 magnum primers. Velocity is 1065 fps from a 4" Glock 19. I wanted to develop a subsonic load for my can and this has been reliable and accurate as well as quiet.

I suspect your load is way too hot for a lead bullet. I would consider it too hot for a jacketed 115. I always try to match factory loads for obvious reasons. Most standard velocity factory loads 124's clock around 1100 fps over my chronograph. you will be much faster than that.

I only use Power Pistol for full power jacketed loads. WW-231, Bullseye, TiteGroup and other fast burning pistol powders I use for lead target loads.

Copper washed and plated are 2 different processes with very little in common other than copper being applied on top of lead.

22lr bullets are copper washed with a very light coat of copper which is usually not a complete coat as you can see the lead base metal through the wash. Copper washed bullets can still lead a barrel as the copper doesn't completely cover the lead core.

Plated bullets usually have a copper coating some .006" - .007" thick which completely covers the lead core. I've shot 10s of thousands of them at speeds up to 2,005fps and never had any leading of the barrel from them.

6.5gr in 124gr 9mm is way too much IMO. What kind of speed are you pushing?

6.0 Grains Power Pistol and the 115 JHP of your choice will shoot very well.

I've been running 6.2 gr of power pistol under 115 hp from rmr and they've worked well for me. I've not had any reason to go higher than that.

My normal plinking/USPSA minor load is 5.6gr, 1.130 OAL with 124gr Xtreme plated RN. I worked it up to 6.2gr with no problems in Glocks. But, I just wanted to make minor power factor.

I would highly recommend checking out Silhouette as well. Similar to Power Pistol, but less flash and I think a little cleaner.

Thank you folks. I'll shot 50 rounds of the bullets I've loaded of Power Pistol and AutoComp and then get a couple of pounds of what I can.
