I've been out of the reloading game for about 10 years now getting back into the swing.  I've got the Dillon 650,  Rock Chucker, and associated tools. and books.

Looking to start stocking back up on powders.

I load and plan on loading .45 ACP, .40 S&W, 10mm, 9mm, 357 mag, 44 mag, 5.56, 7.62

Always liked Titegroup for rounds per pound for plinking

years ago Varget was everyone's go to for 5.56 now there is powders for that round in modern sporting rifles

tl;dr what are the staples? cheap plinking powder, powder for velocity

Ramshot TAC for 5.56x45

Winchester Autocomp has loads for all of the pistol rounds.

Winchester/Hodgdon RDC

Accurate 2230 will work for both the rifle rounds.

There may be better application specific powders, but for the broad spectrum, a couple powders will get you in business.

Check out the new CFE Pistol powder. I've been using it for a while and am impressed. It will load anything from 9mm-45.

I use H335 for 223, Varget for 308, H4350 for 6.5CM/243, and CFE 300blk for 300 blackout.

I believe in getting the best powder for the application rather than trying to find universal powders. Test some powders, find the best one for the rifle, and use that. If it happens to be one you already use in another application that is great, but don't suffer on performance just in the name of having less powder in stock.

Still nothing wrong with Titegroup, I still load a ton of it in 9mm, .40, .38 Special, and .45ACP.

I also had good luck with CFE Pistol, worked up a few loads with 9mm. I still have 4 or 5 pounds, need to experiment with it more.

For 223 I've been using H335 or WC844

Your pistol cartridges vary on a broad spectrum.  45, 9 and 40 can be loaded with fairly fast powders for good velocity.  Like unique or bullseye. 10mm will need a bit slower to get higher performance, power pistol rings a bell... 357 and 44 need H110 to seek out the best fireball at dusk.

556 and 7.62 are the Chevy small blocks of calibers.  Pick your bullet (piston), pick your powder (stroke) and tune till you are happy. Varget, h4895,  tac, h335, cfe223, 8208 xbr all work well in both.  Varget is the old favorite but CFE is catching up,  even though I'm not a die hard fan.

H335 is my 556 plinking powder. I use h4895 for 308. YMMV.

I have been happy with Power Pistol for 9mm and .40. Just shot a friends 10mm loaded with q180 gr over a maximum of Longshot—holy cow that was top velocity and super accurate!!

In .45ACP I have tried several and keep going back to W231/HP38.

In .44 mag I use W296 for top end loads and Unique for mild-medium. VN110 is very accurate and a little faster than H110/W296. 2400 is very popular.

For 5.56 I like IMR8208 and CFE223 or H335. Varget for some heavier Bullets is very good.
