Poll to follow.

ETA:

and if you have a specific suggestion for a good 9mm, FA rated, very quiet (not interested in a "Short" can), let me know.

Not interested in SIG, SilencerCo, or Surefire.

That poll is too narrow...

Missing SiCo, Q, Yankee Hill... I’m sure countless others.

Didn't have that many options - went with the crowd favorites here and on reddit so far.

Not interested in SIG, SilencerCo, or Surefire.

If you would vote for one not there, please comment - I hope those who agree will post.

I have a SiCo pistol can. Haven’t needed customer service yet. I’m not sure I understand the goal of this poll. Good luck!

It might help to quantify best as well...

After reading your edit... I vote obsidian 9

Are you looking for a pistol can or a sub gun can (since you mention full auto rated)? Those are different beasts.

@hansonbrothers - do you have any input?

Primarily for a handgun, but that could go on my AR9 pistol w/ 8"

I've been pleased with the following pistol cans:
1) Gemtech GM-9
2) Rugged Obsidian 45
3) SilencerCo Osprey 45

The Gemtech was my first pistol can and while it is very light and reasonably inexpensive, I have not been impressed with its sound performance.

Quiet auto rated I’m not sure you can beat the Dead Air Wolf 9SD.

I love my obsidian 9 in the short on my Evo.

I love my old TiRANT-9 cans.  Quieter than my Dead Air Ghost.  I’d recommend a TiRANT-9m in a hot second.

Yep.  My Tirant still gets the most use.  I’m loving the Ryder 9 too.

How about this

ECCO Machine Phoenix IX

Sorry 'bout the wind noise!

I wouldn't especially recommend it for heavy subgun use with the 7075 K baffles, but I've run drum mags through it on my Suomi KP31 post sample.

Nice. Always enjoys your posts on Silencertalk and THR. 1-1/4" 9mm cans always seemed like the sweet spot.  I'm curious why you didn't use a 6061 or 2024 tube or at least a 7075 front cap to drop some weight.

Well, with gr 9 Ti, I can go way thinner than Al.  With .035" wall Ti, I'm lighter than I would be with .062 wall aluminum, which is about as thin as I'd go to contain pressure and for thread integrity with a coarser pitch.  Plus, though it's minimal, the  thinner wall means more internal volume. On the front cap, just not enough weight savings to justify weakening the can to a service pistol catridge only critter.  I can make 17-4 parts half as thick as 7075 and still be stronger.  I tried a 7075 front cap on the Phoenix XLV, and with the 36 pitch threads, I blew it off running magnum cartidges. The IX can handle a full .357 magnum or 9mm win mag, and I've beat on it plenty with my Suomi SMG using drum mags .

With those fine thread pitches that makes sense.  It's always best to test a new build someplace quiet.  If a can produces baffle confetti and there's no one there to hear it, does it make a sound? Yes, in fact it does.

I have an AAC Ti-RANT 9, KAC USP45T, + 2x SilencerCo Osprey pistol cans. I wish I bought another Ti-RANT 9 when they were blowing them out. That can is stupid quiet. If I were buying today, I’d pull the trigger on a Rugged Obsidian 9 + Rugged Obsidian 45.
