Working another show yesterday man and his wife brought this in to get information on. Type 99, Tokyo juki kogyo. 37th series. Mum intact, bolt MM, rough stock, simple front site, leaf rear. It's a late transition just before last ditch. Bore looks new, has copper fouling in it still. Guy told me he inherited it had been in a attic for 70yrs.
Bayonet is a kokura, frog a bit dry, but I rubbed some peckards on it and I think it'll survive. Bayonet had been stored on the rifle. 6 bills was fair I thought? Think I'll hang it up on my wall. Above my jap flag bring back.           |

I remember seeing them unmolested for $50 in the 1970s. They had crept up to $100 in the 1990s when I bought one just to get the bolt to replace the one missing from my Dads he brought back. I later sold the bolt less one for $125 so I did ok. Yeah Norma 7.7 is available about $50 a box. I don't plan on shooting this one however. I wiped it with some balistol, and still softening up bayonet frog with peckards. I'll hang it up as a historical piece. |

You can make reloads out of 30-06 brass very easily, and the 99s are great shooters! They have chrome bores too! I own two and shoot them regularly!

I had a type 99 I made ammo for and shot. Big pita to do. I sold that rifke years ago. This one I just picked up has been retired and hangs on the wall now. |
