I’m considering trying to take a PTR K3P and converting it to a G3K type SBR. Was curious if anyone had done so and used a wooden handguard for it?  Bonus points for an A3 type stock.

It’s the most beautiful gun that gets shot the least.

I bought the wrong collapsible stock; it’s for the ultra short .308.

It’s had some FTF issues that are unrelated to the SBR.

That looks really nice. I have a Dead Air Sandman K that would go really well with it.

The pics I can find have the polymer handguards. For completely impractical reasons I would love to put on the wooden handguards. Is there any reason it couldn’t be done?

I don’t see why not. But I am not a Roller Lock expert.

I’ve thought about doing a surplus wood stock a few times. But I like the wide hand guards.

Would there be a factory option that would work, or would it be a custom project?

I wanted a wood handguard on my Cetme pistol so did a little creative splicing with a bandsaw.  Shown before refinishing.  My suppressor is about the same length as the 10.5" barrel.

If you run suppressed, swap out to a #9 locking piece.  Your receiver will thank you.

So what is the process on this? From posts I have seen around, it seems you take the hardware and just cut a wooden handguard to length?

ETA, that looks good by the way.

I've got the P size SBRd with a collapsible stock.  The K size is quite the little piggy.

I have the 7.62x39 version.  It’s magazine sensitive, but with the right mags it runs flawlessly.  It’s fun as hell to shoot.

I need to SBR it and put a can on the end.

I left the metal on the ends and just cut the middle 4" or so out then joined the ends with gorilla glue.
