@boltcatch

I saw you mentioned these lights in another thread regarding the SF vampire lights.  I checked out these PK lights and the m52/m51 looks really interesting.

Anybody have more info about these yet? They look pretty new. Obvious comparison would be the surefire vampire stuff.

Well OK, good to have another vendor in the mix.  But it is still a LED IR emitter.  It will still have some kind of light emission, as seen from the front; so if that's a consideration, it's still not the optimal set up.  Da Torch from TNVC is the only LED light that I know of, that made an attempt to bury the emitter deep enough to control this.

As to this light, ok looks good; depends on how it compares to SF, and price point.  Also wonder whether they will sell separate components, "cafeteria" style, so you can roll your own, like bolt catch was saying.

Judging from their website they look pretty high end.  So I don't think this would be a source of moderately priced components for building your own lights, again as bolt catch was alluding to.  Also the pic of the head honcho was obviously a gentleman of Asian extraction.  So I would not be surprised if they are designed here (hence the name), but manufactured over-seas; to some that matters; to others not so much.

I agree with you about all that. Pricing is the big issue for me. SF stuff is just too dang spendy. If these are less expensive they could be good alternatives. It would be great to see a good quality dual spectrum light with pressure switch for less than a monthly mortgage payment.

The Asian guy who runs this outfit is purported  to be the design force behind many of surefire’s popular designs. Not sure where they’re made. Color me interested at this point.

I’d like to try their pistol light.

They are proud of their stuff.

Emailed the distributor to ask if there are plans to carry the WIR series of lights.

Too funny.

I'm sure the dude is legit.  I'm sure PK designs will have some nice kit.  I'm also sure they will be quite pricey.

So really, this whole thing about an alternative to SF; I would like to see a lower cost alternative, not higher.  I'm sure there is a boutique market for hi-end flashlights.  I'm just not in it.

But: Arfcom.  Carry on.

I have no additional info to add here, other than that I'm glad to see another source of white/IR lights.   And hopefully, high quality tape switches.  I don't see any reason to expect PK to be interested in offering light bodies or heads, but a serious SF competitor will really help even if they don't.

It's interesting that their weapon light tailcaps have some Scout compatibility.

I have a pile of SF lights here, including some purchased very recently, but it just rubs me the wrong way when they make deliberate changes to avoid interoperability.   I don't mind dropping a lot of money on a flashlight; I do mind design features that are angling for more cash at the expense of making it less useful for its intended purpose.   They could sell a mountain of components if they wanted to, but that kind of move really makes it look like they're just trying really hard to hang onto a large margin on certain parts.    And that doesn't help with people grumbling about innovation, either.

Guy responded back. Apparently these aren’t released yet, but he’s checking into when he will have availability and will get back to me.

Something that may be of interest to you if you haven’t seen it yet:

Surefire has made small numbers of 90 degree plugs in the past, but they’ve never been available commercially. Maybe a seemingly minor thing to some, but to some, the devil can be in the details.

Yeah I could probably use a 90 degree tape switch or two.
