As stated in another thread, I'm reinstating my C&R that's been lapsed for probably 12 years. I had it back in the heyday when you could get all types of military C&R guns at good prices. Now my interests have changed and I'm more into turn of the century (that's late 1800, early 1900's for those of you in Rio Linda). Do any of you guys use yours for other stuff other than military? Most of the posts here seem to be relating to military stuff. There are literally hundreds of other C&R available (not surplus) that isn't military.

I've used mine for a couple of older revolvers and Browning shotguns.

Lots of old doubles.

Yes, I have about 90 firearms.

Only 3 are modern (2 handguns and a double rifle).

All the rest are antique/C&R made from 1858 to 1960.

Only about a half dozen are military.

The rest are non-military.

Yep, any gun younger than me is now a C&R, which makes me wonder, am I Curio, or more of a Relic?

For what, 10 bucks a year ($30 for 3 years), it's a handy thing to have.

Also, if you ever get into machine guns, you can have one shipped to you directly, from out of state, once the Form 4 clears - no dealer needed, if the MG is over 50 years old too.  So all the WWII, 50's, and 60's stuff is C&R.  In 15 years, every MG will be.

That's cool.

Now to save up for an MG!

I've enjoyed buying surplus police weapons that have identifying markings.

My first C&R was a military gun. The little P64 from AIM.

Next was a late 60's Winchester 94 in 30-30 in great shape. I know not a coveted pre 64 but the price was right and I wanted a lever gun.

When the first China flu stimulus check came I bought two Remington Model 11s. One I formed 1 into an SBS. Neat shotguns.

Then came a beat up Smith & Wesson 10-6 which I rebuilt in to a 3 inch trail gun.

Recently I got a Winchester Model 12 that needed some loving. Nice to have a 6 round 12 gauge with a 18 inch barrel.

When looking for these guns I make sure there are spare parts available and something I have ammo for. No sense getting a gun that needs ammo I already don't have in stock.

I no longer have a C&R but when I did I used it for several .22s and a couple of handguns.

This nice C&R is due at my home tomorrow.

It's a S&W .357 Mag Model of 1950, aka a Pre-Model 27.  Have also used it to receive Colt SAA, old non-antique Marlins, etc.
