Anyone know where to source the spacers that come with the AEM brake for the AEM5? Not the shims or a crush washer, but the spacer.  I've either lost one or one didn't come with one of the brakes I purchased.  Would like to snag some so that I've got extras on hand.

ETA: pic for reference

I believe Ron Allen is the source of the spacer.

This is the schoolhouse rifle I was shooting. We did only have two. This was before I got the newer bottom metal sent over that took the AI mags.

I've had a couple of M24's here at the shop over the years(quite a few years ago actually). The Remington Military Marketing guys dropped by on the way to Shot Show once as well.

I suppose the bores on AEM5s are too tight for 6mmARC?

Is this barrel profiled to the AE30 print on Ron’s site? This plus a brake gets you the AEM5-30 mounted with as much barrel meat one can have, is that right?

That's a M24 suppressor profile with a 11/16x24 thread. I believe RW Snyder Gunsmithing did that build for him?

So the same thing but longer OTB dimension/further back taper (and different threads). I guess my question is whether or not a barrel profiled to the AE30 print + .30cal AEM brake = collarless mounting for AEM5-30. That’s what you were originally going for in your build @outrider is that right?

There’s a post in this thread where @unclemoak shares the dimensions of various AEM5/Ops 12th style cans. The aperture is large enough to physically pass a .264 diameter bullet through, but you’d likely want more clearance. IIRC his AEM5 bored for 6mm ARC had a .3xx aperture rather than the .27x aperture Ron is making these days.

I feel so sorry for y'all as I received two stamps yesterday that were just shy of a year.

I've been thinking about what to do with my AEM5-30 and have decided to pursue a micro bolt action .300 BLK SBR. Should be a fun one.

Stamp came in last night.  Took the new AEM5 out this morning.

I don’t know what exactly I was expecting, but this went well beyond.  So much more quiet that any of my other suppressors on 223.  I was shooting out to 600 with a 16” WOA barrel (breaking that in as well) and the whole package came together very nicely.

I am excited to get to work on tuning a load for this.  It shot amazing with the 77gr load I had on hand for the mk12-ish.

PANTEO in Swansea.  It is in the midlands.  I am very happy since relocating to SC and this range is a big part of that.  Cardboard at 100;  Plates and cardboard at 2,3,4,5, and 600 (expanding to 800 soon).  They also have several pistol bays with steel and a rimfire bay.  You can also use the general purpose bay for close in rifle practice, transitions, moving, etc.  No stupid rules either.  I am out there at opening almost every Saturday.  It is public, just the usual safety brief for the first time and a range fee.

————————-

Back on topic of the AE suppressors though, I am kicking around the idea of picking up a second AEM5… is the best move still to just back order with one of the usual vendors that get these in?

Yeah, that's what I would do. Just sign up for email alerts or reach out to individual dealers and see if they have a wait list etc. And thanks for info on that range. Wish I was closer to it.

I wound up doing a backorder through DSG quite a while ago.  Took about 10 months for it to come in.  Then filed the paperwork and am about 179 days into that (pre e-file).  Wish I woulda backordered 2 at the time instead of just the one.

EE or facebook groups. Prices are high due to supply/demand. Haven't been made in a while and there has been a resurgence in retro interest.

Last one I inquired about dude wanted 300 for an A2 upper with forward assist and dust cover.

C7 uppers are even more than that.

Good luck man.

They have all but dried up these days at least at any decent prices.  If you do find one the markup is ridiculous at the moment.

I heard it direct from several manufacturers:  The forge companies are not making A1 and A2 uppers, and do not plan to for at least 6 months, and then plan on a wait to get into distribution channels and whatever waitlists are out there.  What I heard was basic business logic:  getting harder to get quality aluminum, as the trace metals in the alloys come from Russia and China, and the forge machines are working at capacity producing M4/A4 uppers, so no time to stop the machines and do a run that represents >0.05 % of the overall forge market.

Now, in the meantime, you have the old Nodak, now H&R, with their own forges but still trying to figure out how they are going to build and sell.  You have the Russian Paint guy looking to buy a forge, and make 'em the right way, but that is a year away, and you have DPMS (which is owned by the same company who owns H&R) coming out with some retro builds.

I came across this picture in EE (listing for same model handguard) of Remington/DPMS rifle entered for the M-110 trials. Of course the suppressor caught my eye and I’m intrigued. Is it the 12th model in 30 cal or the M24 model? The knurling is in the middle of the can. Knurling on my AEM5-30 is at the front.

I don’t see a collar so assume the taper was contoured into the barrel, which is fluted.

My googlefu is weak and I didn’t find much about this rifle.

Looks like an M24 but if you can scale the drawing, a 12th-30 is 10x the diameter long and an M24 is a bit over 11x the diameter.

can ADCO @bigbore do this threading? i will call them tomorrow about it as they are closed today.

i wonder what the current turn around time is.

im dumb and have been thinking about my 223 bolt action all wrong. its been threaded 5/8x24 using a direct thread 30 cal can for a couple of years now. need to cut the barrel at those threads, have it reprofiled/collar installed and get it threaded up for one of my AEM5s.
