I bought a 700 223 new in 2000 used it for coyote and varmints for awhile then I got a Tikka 22/250 so the 700 just sat ended up selling it to a good buddy several years ago.

He has been having problems with it ejecting as in empty brass barely leaves the action most of the time it ends up landing back in backwards.

I took it apart cleaned it all up cleaned out the ejector replaced it with a wolf extra power spring and no change I would replace the extractor but I can't find one in stock anywhere.

Anyone ran into this? What's the fix?

Thanks all

My first guess would be to polish the chamber. If it hasn’t been polished in 20+ years, stuff will build up that you can’t see. Bore brush wrapped in steel wool soaked in solvent and chucked in drill. Has worked for me many times. Just the chamber.

It extracts just fine but ejects super weak.

One thing I noticed it dose eject loaded rds a little better I just guess because of the bullet it's in the action just that much longer

I just have to wonder if the extractor is not holding it long enough to clear the ejection port all the way??

This is one on Ebay but I wouldn't buy it if it looks just like this one because that would mean it's probably ok.

New extractor probably clear that right up, or send it to get a mini m16 extractor installed.
