Quoted: While they may not have one of everything from their store on hand for demos, there's almost always at least a few thermal devices there to mess with, and 2-3 staffmembers with a mountain of knowledge between them to steer you in the right direction. If your primary focus is thermal rather than image intensifiers, reaching out to their sister company Night Goggles may be a good idea. I see TNVC as more of the fighting at night sorta crew (NV heavy, with the occasional thermal discussion leaning towards mil-style equipment) and NG as the killing critters at night crew (thermal heavy with experience with all the rifle-mounted and handheld civilian options). View Quote I appreciate the reference to the class. I am going to put Nightfighter 101 on my training list for next year. I have to work the weekend that it is offered in Oct, so I will catch it next time. |

This was a great "not a training class'!!! Crossgun and adjunct "not instructors" went above and beyond - 100% professional, zero needless downtime, well planned breaks, etc.. 10 hours of Grade A info and activities. I'd like to thank the local BFE LEO that followed me for two miles, but decided I didn't need pulling over at 0230hrs

First I would like to thank those who attended for their safety and professionalism. As JW noted, pretty amazing to think that some unknown random dudes from here could actually get together and safely function. Just what in the hell was I originally thinking? It definitely says something special about the NVG community and their commitment.
Hopefully we presented a venue that allowed you guys to better understand not only your personal abilities but the limitations of the technology and the specific gear and kit you selected. We are already working on the October outing and looking forward to going dark sooner. |

Hopefully everyone got some rest today before heading back to the rat race tomorrow. |

Awesome pics, congrats gents!
We do similar gatherings in S. GA a couple times a year- though more heat and skeeters! |

I had a great time. Thanks for all of the effort put in to put this together and make it a great, safe, night. My wallet will be a bit lighter after I order a MAWL this week The space and distance at the club was awesome as well. I can't wait for October.
JW, what was the group name again for the fox chapel club/shoot you mentioned last night? |

Nice pics JW as always. The NF course you were at the week before looked great as well! Thanks for taking them.

Here’s the page on the club’s site, but it looks like the first shoot in Nov hasn’t hit their calendar yet. Just checked with the organizer and he said he’ll put it up on their Facebook page too eventually. Feel free to email me to keep in closer contact about it. https://www.rosedalesportsmen.org/night-shoot/ View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

The idea is for identifying shoot/no shoot targets and detail of just random objects that we can find laying around or that we have in our vehicles, tire iron, umbrella, hang a rifle off of one of the target, duct tape a handgun to another target, etc. Start at maybe 15 yards and going out until noone can identify anything. I sent an email to cross gun about this but figured I'd post this here too so that we can all put our collective minds together and get our brains churning. And really, this can be done by others that can't attend in their own backyard. |

Unfortunately northern Ohio was a little too far for me here in central KY, but looks like an incredible time.
I believe there have been a few guys in KY mentioning interest - I have access to a night friendly range in central KY where I have participated in informal night get togethers and would love to organize a group in KY for a similar experience, and have access to a full fleet of rental NV gear (whole kits) for anybody who is interested but doesn't have the gear yet. @crossgun now seeing the success of this in Ohio, if you would like to work to coordinate with other states let me know, or I can try to get a KY group off the ground for now and then maybe we combine at a mutually convenient locale in the future somewhere in souther OH or northern KY in the future? |

I’d be willing to get something going here in western NC. Near the Asheville area. Might be a range fee involved (not my range), but I’d be glad to try to get it going.

Hey brother glad you could make it and got to experience what you can actually achieve and what maybe you cant with your NVG's and support equipment.
We had another great outing and perfect night for NODs. Learning is obviously occurring with some previous participants sporting new gear, and some waiting on order, after seeing the limitations of their original kit. Great to have all you! I'm continued to be amazed by the safety and professionalism of all in attendance. Its always a pleasure to see guys who don't know each other gel and confidently work together especially in the dark and under NVGs. Hope to see you all back in November. |
|

I'm bummed I couldn't make the first two. I will see you guys in November!

Huge props to everyone who helped organize yesterday's night vision outing. Actually being able to shoot at varying distances and in varying positions in the dark was eye opening regarding technique, awareness, and gear selection. Turns out that clearing your apartment in the dark isn't exactly a substitute for doing it live, especially when working a drill in tandem with other guys. Fun, safe, and informative, especially considering we were all looking through straws.

Yes, I agree with you @Drastik we "Had a blast". - Thanks for posting the pictures.
I think everyone's equipment was tested. Everyone seen what worked and what didn't. Malfunctions. Law enforcement requirements for night Ops (insert Ray Charles gif), my score was a D- for sure. If you have access to Chris Costa's Instagram ... seems vaguely familiar - Same place, Same Trucks but will air in the tires. |
