I have a sporterized no.4 that I'm trying to turn in to more of a classic hunting rifle.  Currently, there's no front sight, so I want to add a ramp and blade. If someone has an intact no.4 could you tell me what the height of the blade is from the center of the bore? I just need a starting point that will get me in the ballpark, and I'll adjust from there.

thanks!

I did not disassemble my front sight, and it's a bit difficult to get in there because of the front sight protector, etc., but I believe this will get you pretty close:
front sight height above barrel - 0.71"
barrel diameter at that point - 0.585"
0.585 / 2 = 0.29" barrel radius
0.29 + 0.71 = 1.00 inch front sight height over midline of bore.
I included my calculations in case I screwed up somewhere, but double-checking with eyeball and a ruler, it looks correct.
