I am looking for a winter project to get through the boredom of winter + this covid lockdown crap,
I would like to have a mini 14 barrel nitrided, my questions are.
1. Should I seperate barrel from receiver or is it ok to have the whole thing done at once? (Will the 500deg + that is required for the process hurt the heat treatment of the receiver?)
2. Who does this type of work? Where can I send the barrel (or barreled receiver) to get this done?
Thanks for all your replies in advance!

You are correct if you mean Deg "F",
I should have been more specific by stating  500+ deg "C"

unless a barrel is 1/2 moa or better I would not spend any more money on it, just saying and i think most rugers fall into this category.
