Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - New ir light. I can see red led??

I bought an ir light for my new to me russian nvgs that work only with ir.  My issue with the flash light is it will be helmet mounted.  It shows visible to the eye a red led.  Anyway to hide it or is this an issue of all ir lights ??

All LED-based IR illuminators will emit some visible signature, but some are better than others.

Has there ever been a study on red dots, IR output they have, how much they have and if it can damage your eyes? Even if there has been, by say, Aimpoint, I doubt the cheap Chinese copies care about that.
