She's a lot lighter than I expected her to be.

Probably because my only experience with the M1A platform has been this beast.

I can't wait to see how loud she is.

I think both of these have ugly furniture. I'd love to have a nice wood stock for the SOCOM. I'm leaving the ugly USMC McMillan on the Supermatch for value purposes. Also, I don't want to screw up the bedding.

I would like some wood for my Socom as well. I’m just too cheap to buy it.

Pretty much.
SOCOM 16 has a scout optic rail on the barrel. The tanker doesn't.
There may be other differences (stock, handguard, etc...), but I think that about it.

Years ago I put a USGI stock on mine from Fred’s.  Removed the ARMS scout mount, and added a slotted USGI hand guard, because I could.  I essentially built a Tanker model before SA built a Tanker.  Mine shoots sweet.  Used the SA (USGI) fiberglass stock on another project.

My Springfield rebate (mags & optic mount) has shipped.
Didn't take as long as I thought it would.

I have the same rifle, and don't think it's that loud, even with a metal roof.  But that's with plugs and muffs.

It's a nice rifle.  Points and shoots wells, haven't had any jams, easy to put on a red dot like a Sig Romeo 5 and get good accuracy even with older eyes.

Had to buy the backup wrench to be able to take the gas plug off.  I make a point of cleaning and lubing any threaded parts like the gas plug, or caps on a suppressor, before I fire them.  They often don't have much lube on them as they come from the factory, and with carbon fouling they can get welded on.  Treated the threads with Slip EWL oil, and tightened it back on, and not issues with it coming off at the range, or being able to take it off back home.

I was thinking real hard about getting the Socom from PSA. Looks like a great deal but wasn't too sure about their accuracy. Seems they had some bad reviews. What's your results?

I can hit a 6" plate at 100 yards with both iron sights and these old eyes. That's just fine for me.
It's an M1A and it is what it is. I think all of the complaints about inaccuracy are coming from folks who want their M1A to be something it's not. If I want to shoot tight groups at longer distances,  I have a Supermatch that will do that. Even still, it's not going to shoot like my custom bolt guns.
I'm very satisfied with mine.
