Anyone else take advantage of this upper during the 4th of July sale? I purchased one and it arrived today.  My goal was for an inexpensive simple build for my first 5.56 SBR and I think I achieved it. If you have one of these uppers, how does yours run?

Aimpoint H1 4moa w/ Laure mount
Magpul SL hand guards
GG&G BUIS
YHM 5.56 QD FH
YHM 5.56 QD
Toolcraft NIB BCG
Milspec CH

Lower
RRA SBR lower (I've had this lower almost 20 years)
Spikes H2 buffer w/ standard carbine spring
Magpul stock
Magpul grip
Standard FCG

As she arrived to me.

All prettied up.

Ready to get quiet.

Quiet.

Where she will live when fully tested for reliability.

Nice rifle OP.

CHF or nitride version?  Curious about accuracy if you test her out.

This is my PSA pistol.  It looks like a poor cousin to yours.  No can on mine.. Mine is a Nitride one but I have only quick sighted in the TRS-25 and plinked with it.

I have the 11.5 Nitride PSA upper on my SBR and it's fantastic. Maybe 2K rounds through her and she keeps rocking.

Nice looking SBR you have there OP. I hope to get the YHM Turbo for mine early next year.

Nice; no need for another 10.5 but I wish I'd grabbed one on sale.  I think the round handguards look better but the Magpuls are more comfortable and practical.  I've got them on two of mine as well.

I've had one for about 2 1/2 years, same upper, nitrided.  It's been problem free and very accurate.  I might have around 500 rds through it.

Today was finally a day without rain here in sunny Florida so I made it a range day. I Ran 140 rounds of American Eagle MSR 223 through the gun with zero issues. Accuracy was more than acceptable for a 10.5' gun,  4moa red dot and this inexpensive ammo. There was no issues hitting a  8' Shoot N C target at 100 yds over and over. The gun also shot to the same POA suppressed and unsupressed. That was refreshing as that same can has a POI change of 2' on my other gun. I also shot a few 62 grain Speer Gold Dots at 100 yds. They landed in a nice 1.25" group.. The little guy is a shooter for sure with quality ammo.

The gun is a little over gassed. Ejection was at 2-3 o'clock suppressed or suppressed. I am running a Spikes 4oz buffer instead of a standard 3oz Carbine buffer. The gun ran very smoothly with this combination.

All in all, this was $169 well spent. The Speer GD is my HD/SD ammo and is way more accurate a than the intended role of a SBR.

50yds American Eagle MSR .223 5 shots unsuppressed

50 yds  American Eagle MSR .223 5 shots suppressed 5 shots unsuppressed to show the same POA/POI

They have them on sale in that configuration regularly. Sign up for the emails and wait.

I picked one up last year and it is one of my favorites with a can. All I run is steel cased and never had a hiccup.

I bought one in 300 blackout. So far 100rds thur it no problems.

If you're going to run it suppressed I was told to use the Brakeout; it's louder without the can but supposedly helps act as a sacrificial baffle for the short barrel.  It doesn't ping as badly either.

Same here.

It eats everything I put through it.

I have the 11.5 melonite and it runs like a champ.   2 carbine classes and never a hiccup.
I run the A5 buffer tube with the heaviest buffer and it smoothed it out.  It is a gassy gun.    OP, run an H3 buffer I think you'll find things improve.

Griffin armament minimalist brake taper mount. Thought about using a 3 prong but decided to go this route to put less stress on the can. I have a Optimus and in it’s shortest configuration with the mini blast shield it is rated down to 10.5” 5.56.

I just got the 10.5" phosphate upper in this week. It was the one for $170.  Hopefully I'll get to shoot it soon. Been debating it for years, finally decided to buy it

For some goofy reason I put my 10.5" chf PSA pistol build on the EE a couple of months ago.

When the nitride version of the same barrel went on sale, I ordered it.
Then I needed a new pistol lower.

Now I just need to get out and shoot it.

OP, how well does that pistol run suppressed?

Any over gassing issues?

It is actually a SBR. The gun is over gassed but has run 100% suppressed or unsupressed.

I think pretty much everyone has said that about them including me.  LOL  Someone on here recommended using a heavy buffer and so that's what I use in mine; so far no issues using a variety of ammo whether shooting it as a pistol or on my SBR lower.

What about suppressed?

Mine doesn’t seem bad but might buy a heavy buffer just to try.
