June '45 receiver. Criterion barrel. Mostly correct for serial number. I like the milled trigger guard better than stamped. It's a Boyd stock set I've had for years. Needs an oil finish. I am leaning toward Tung oil.
It sure feels different handling. I hope to put some rounds through it next month. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Beautiful rifle! I have one as well and find it just fun! Very handy little package.

Oh man, I am so ready to get mine back from Tim. Sent it to him in February, still waiting. I got the Beretta gas system for mine, so I can use the Ultimak rail if I decide to add an optic. Such handy rifles, damn near a do-it-all rifle. Sweet looking M1 you got there!

How abusive is the muzzle blast? Is there any current source for 308 barrels?

People worry about the muzzle blast, but I don't find it abusive. Outdoors, with M2 ball the blast is (to me) not much different than the full-size Garand. In an enclosed or semi-enclosed area, like everything else, it's definitely "blasty", a bit more perhaps than an 18 inch FAL or M1A, but not like an 11 inch AR. |

I tried that whole cancer thing. It wasn't for me. Good Riddance.

That's what I did. Received the notice and bought it. Picked up a rack grade for this specific purpose. Now I have to get the funds to send it off to Shuffs. |

Thanks and sorry for the thread hijack! It's a Burris 2.75 fixed Scout scope. On ARF, I read where the Leupold Scout optics didn't provide enough clearance for the clip loading, but this did. I mounted mine in some low LaRue tactical rings (with a spacer for the 1" tube). It gets a little bit of detritus on it after shooting; not sure if it's due to the Garand mechanism or that Smith Enterprises brake on mine, but I need to get a lens cover or something. Been thinking of taking it off and just leaving a red dot on top, it's so lithe and fun without that optic out front. That, and anything on which I mount a magnified optic I just magically expect better accuracy from, even if I consider the level of accuracy perfectly acceptable when using irons or a RDS. It's a personal problem. ![]() |

I have a field grade in a ram line stock I keep thinking about doing this too. Problem is I can’t decide stay 30-06 or go 308? And for some reason the 6.5x55 sounds fun too

Right now I have an m1 and a .308 bolt gun both with a couple thousand rounds. I'd have a hard time converting my only .30-06 but if I was going to add another gun I'm pretty sure I'd get a .308. And probably the M1 tanker while we're at it.
I'd like an M1 in 7x57 as well since I have a few thousand rounds for my m77. |

In my case, I went with a Mini-G because my job has offices all over the country, and I might have to go live for a while in some shitty state like CA until I can transfer back to the free world. And a Garand based rifle is more palatable for a lot of those shitty states. And selected .308 because .30-06 is more expensive, and I want to actually shoot my stuff. I actually consolidated away from .30-06, so the logistic benefit was easy. That and I didn't want to pay for another magazine pattern in capacities that might get neutered due to an AWB or where I have to live for work. Otherwise, the Tanker M1A is considerably cheaper and easier. (But the "Scout" would be better to mount a modern optic). The fact that my Mini-G basically just "rescued" an otherwise non-pristine rifle and gets it shooting again, is just gravy. Better it gets out and used, than for it to sit untouched in a closet or ignored in some collection. |

Their "SOCOM" 16 has the same forward rail as their Scout 18", which is similar to the available options for a forward rail on the Mini-G. I know Washington state banned the SKS. Did they ban the Garand as well? ETA: They banned the SKS & the M-1A, not the Garand, though the Garand might have to have the upper handguard removed. Lol, looks like the KelTec RDB Hunter is GTG, as of course is the Mini-14, although the upper handguard might have to be taken off. |

I finally got my G back today, looks even better than I remembered! Only some tiny pits under the receiver near the back. The stock was of course bone dry, but I got the first coat of BLO on it this afternoon. I got a few picks, but they're crappy. I'll try to take some more in better sun when I get it back together. I can't get picks posted, but I'll be happy to forward them to anyone who wants to see it. Personally, I think it's hard to go wrong with this set up, with or without an optic. And it's not permanently modified, you can convert it back to original pretty easily. But Oh man does it handle like a dream....

I'm pretty sure Tim would trim it down for you if he built your rifle. |

I’m very strongly considering the Mini G conversion.
Also thinking the M14 magazine option while Tim has it. Anyone have the Mini G with magazine? Thanks. |

I think it's 600 bucks anyways, that price on top of the 1100 rifle puts it in the ballpark of a M1A tanker. Shopping for one of those now ![]() |
