Hey, yes I’ve taken them out on my property several times just messing around. We often forget to close in our chickens until after dark so I’ve been putting them on to run that chore, and often just do a loop around before coming back in.
I finally got out with my rifle and took a few shots with it too, super cool but overall a bit more difficult than it looks on YouTube videos…
I was really having a hard time seeing my dot through the NVGs but I just got a tall Unity mount for my Aimpoint M5 to try out. I found it easier to see the Eotech dot than the Aimpoint but I very much prefer the Aimpoint so I’m hoping this Unity mount helps.
I still need to get the laser sighted in. I sorta adjusted it to be pretty close to what I could see of my dot so it was at least hitting paper but still needs some fine tuning.
I’m curious how my specs compare to others, I’ll post them up soon (working night shift this week). I have zero experience with any other night vision so nothing to compare it to really, I’m mostly just curious how they stack up to others.
I do feel like there’s more noticeable “static” if that’s the right term than I expected. I have not noticed any blems whatsoever though, but like Robert told me if you aren’t a Sheetrock Ranger you probably won’t even see them…he’s right, in the real world I don’t see any that I’ve noticed.
A couple times I tried lifting the tube off my non dominant eye and running with a tube over just my dominant eye to mimic a PVS-14 and I gotta say, having dual tubes almost feels like a must! I feel incredibly more capable with a tube over both eyes.
Overall still learning and figuring it out but it’s pretty incredible when I’m way out on the property somewhere and lift the tubes up to look with the unaided eye and realize just how well they work!
