Yes, if it was 20 years ago this thread would not be here.  However, it isn't 20 years ago and an old Turkish Mauser which used to be a spear has been cut down to carbine length and had the stock cut and shaped smaller.  It still has the straight bolt and still shoots 8mm Mauser, of which I have plenty.  When the barrel was cut back and the sight put back on, it wasn't set up perfectly and shoots off, but I remember seeing an optic mount that replaces the rear sight?  I tried ordering one probably a decade ago and they shipped the wrong thing and I never took the time to make it right or get what I needed.

In the intervening years has anyone made a better optic mount or know where to still get one?  A quick search turns up this...

I remember S&k mounts for long eye relief scopes....

If you use the first one, which I believe is a B-Square, and there's not enough adjustment in the scope to correct for the rifle shooting to one side or the other, get a set of Millett Angle Loc rings.  They have built in adjustments.  However, with the forward mount like that, you will only be able to use long eye relief scopes.
The thing to do is to find a B-Square scope mount drilling jig and drill and tap your receiver for scope base.  You can do one piece, or two piece, bases.

Sorry, guess I should have been more specific.  I'm not looking to add a scope, probably just a red dot for shooting out to 100 yards.  It's a 5 shot 17" 8mm, more just a fun gun to use up all the 8mm I've got since I don't plan on buying a Hakim anytime soon.

How about a shit pot metal base for 8 bucks that will likely strip out and not work well...
