I was thinking about picking up a bunch of these, but wanted to hear from someone who has used them. What do you use them for? How do they perform?

I have been loading Hornady's 75 Match bullets for a "jack of trades" round, but I have doubts about how it would perform once it slips under 2000, which happens pretty quick out of a 16". I like the 75's out of my 20". Thought maybe that 62 would be a faster version of the 75. Thoughts?

I've had good results out of a 16" barrel carbine.
I keep buying them

My Ruger TD 5.56 wouldn't shoot anything tried at less than 2" at 100yd off a bench rest.  With the 62gr Hornady BTHP I get 1.5" groups with the Ruger Take Down AR.  I tried the same load in my LWRC and get the same 1.5" 100yd groups.  I'm happy with that bullet and recently bought another 3,000 of them.  Have not used them on game or in expansion media, so I can't comment on those uses.

I've shot some from my Mini-14 and they give me slightly better accuracy than with their 62grn fmjs.  With the tweaks to my 583 Series Mini and the HPBTs, I'm under 1.5 MOA with the fmjs and slightly less than that with the HPBTs.  However, to be really fair, I need to work some up for my scoped AR A4, the one I set up as my long range gun to see what they really can do.

If they shoot anything like their 60 sp's and v-max you'll be in business, I have more faith in Hornady bullets than any other brand.
I will order a box of these too, I bet they shoot.

That's all great info! thanks so much guys. I've got some on order. My only problem is my Hornady manual doesn't have load data on this bullet. Anyone know where I can get data without buying anew book?

I cannot find the email but when I asked Hornady they said to use the info for the 60gr stuff.

Try a powder manufactures website. Alternatively, this is a good start point.

Hornady 7th Edition, .223 Remington data.

I have Horn 9th. Load the 62’s with 60 data? I might stay back a little from max.

Yes, that’s what I do. Find the load data for the nearest weight (within reason) and begin with modest charges of powder.

Good bullet if you have at least a 1/8 or tighter twist barrel to spin it correctly, but if you have a 1/9 barrel, then may be better off with the 52gr jhp match bullets isntead.

Note, prefer the  No Cannelure bullets, so I can hang them out as far as the mag allows, to decrease the jump to lands instead.

1/9 is okay with a 20” barrel

Anyone know about any gel block tests on this bullet?

I've been using the Hornady 62 gr BTHP in a 22" 1/9 Savage 10 and they have been extremely accurate for me.

I have gotten a response from Hornady that they perform the same as the 68 grain OTMs in gel/flesh, and are quite good for defensive purposes.

FWIW, not even the 26" barrel on my Remington 700 SPS Varmint .223 was able to stabilize this bullet in the 1 in 12" twist.  It was unable to keep them on an 8 1/2"x11" sheet of paper at 100 yards from a solid rest.  It is, however, excellent in both my 1 in 8" twisted AR's (16" and 24" barrels) and I believe it is fine in my 1 in 9" twisted 20" AR, but can't be absolutely certain due to my lack of ability with iron sights.
