Found one locally for 500. Fair price? What to look for?. Bluing looks good and the stock is nice.

Pass. They used all USGI parts, except the receiver. The receivers were cast and are known to be very brittle and likely to go boom.

Thanks. Kinda shocked me when I seen the price. Most 1903's I"ve seen for sale were around a grand.

Yes, because as Zaitzev said, they use crappy aftermarket cast receivers...they have no collecting value, and aren't safe as shooters, there is literally no upside unless you get it REALLY cheap, and strip it for parts...

if you get the time,  see what the parts are worth,

stock,  (cartouches, finger grooves etc)?

barrel date and condition?

if the value of parts , and you have the time, is higher than $500,(esp is they will take less) may be worth the time,

if not ,, pass
