Couple more shots of the carbon bump setup when ballistic isn't necessary. My first time with a ball-detent mount and really digging it so far. Way lower profile when stowed and the auto-power function is handy.

When I weighed them, they’re 24.8oz and a set of Mod3s was 21oz, so definitely not a huge weight penalty, and one that’s easy to counterweight for.

They are a tiny bit lighter than 18s when I weighed them, but mainly because of the 16mm tubes vs. 18mm amongst some other things I would guess.

Question on helmet sizing for the Ops core bump helmet.

The M/L is up to 23 1/4 and my head is a 23.

If I plan to eventually upgrade to better pads, should I stick with the M/L or jump to the L/XL.

Not sure of this, but I think the AVS10 uses F/1.05 objective lenses that may weigh close the same as GPNVG's ~1.2. From pictures it seems the GPNVG / PVS-31 tubes are slimmer, so they possibly don't weight as much more than a 16mm tube. Not a surprise that I've never handled any of these three units, but my guess is their housing size is roughly the same despite AVS10 having 16mm tubes.

Another guess why the weight difference is so small is because the AVS10 eyepieces still need to be large to see properly so no major savings there either. Could be it's mainly the tubes and even so not as much as with "normal" 16mm vs 18mm tubes (from Photonis: 45g vs 70g -> 4x25g = 100g, while 18 weighs less than 100g more than AVS10)

Ah yeah, I meant slimmer in that they are more elongated in their look than regular 18mm tubes. (EDIT: going a bit off topic, sorry guys, will continue this somewhere else if necessary)

Exfil LTP and cover, Wilcox G24 and RQE Universal Bridge with G3 PVS-14 and FLIR Breach.  Unity KNUCKL with SureFire M1 and USB External battery plus the Wilcox lanyard.  Other side just has the MPLS Charge Pro.

This is my go-to hunting rig.  Spot and stalk, then either target with the DBAL or.flip the Breach up and go to the REAP-IR or PVS-30 on the rifle.

Sweet setup!  Would you be able/willing to share the mount you used (I know it's the KNUKL, but wondering if there's a diameter spec you used) and the USB battery pack you have?  I'd love to source a similar setup for a weapon mounted thermal scope.

Thank you.

I just got two of the 1" Unity Tactical rings made for the KNUCKL.  Put the SureFire in one and the USB battery in the top ring.  The USB stick has a layer of electrical tape around it beneath the ring.

I used this USB battery off Amazon.  Its the Apple lightning charger version,  but there are multiple.   Some are thin enough to use the Unity .825" ring instead.

But it powers my Breach just fine for hours of hunting and i keep spare 123s in the counterweight pouch in case i forget to charge or want to go handheld for extended periods.  The other benefit of this one is that it has really small blue power LEDS that are invisioble past a few yards.  Its black in color, so i just sprayed it and the cords FDE

Gets the big TNVC unit off my helmet and i can use any type of usb cord i wish.    The TNVC unit is moving to the pic rail on my tripod to power other equipment in the field.

Eta:  for weapon mounted any 1" or .8" picatinny ring or scope ring would probably work.  If it's a pwer hungry unit,  the TNVC TRB is picatinny ready and has a much bigger battery housed

I normally do prefer the nightcap.  For all night use with either the -14 or the Breach, it's fantastic.  For a few hours with both its still pretty great.  For all night with both plus the external battery and illuminators, etc - the bump helmet with Epic Air is pure sex

If I'm frequently on/off, the helmet is a little quicker to don/doff as well

Understood and agreed.  I wouldn't buy them myself.

Unfortunately our SWAT team's purchases are out of my hands... (My Exfil is used off the EE, all my other personal off-the-shelf purchases are Ops)  I won't deny that the harness and E/A pads are hard to beat for comfort.

Work still in progress, still need to Tapco up the helmets...jk.  Maybe a couple cool additions

WP Sentinels on one, WP PVS-15s on another

PVS14 on the basic helmet, will be a loaner and may give it to my son who is due to return from Okinawa in Dec

I use a FLIR pts233 worn on the neck to aid in detection as the fields i hunt are over 2000 meters...pretty nice unit despite the shitty customer service from flir

This is basically my pig hunting setup...im not an operator lol...however in the Hog and Viper i was quite the operator....

Rifles are LWRC in 6.8 spc and 300 blkout with dbal d2 on the 6.8  paired with a Trijicon Reap-IR
the .300 blkout has a MAWL C1+ paired with a Pulsar MQ50

What else do i need to complete these helmets...  maybe strobes.  I dont play games with others so may not need ir strobes

ETA:  Damn cats have wreaked havoc on my persian carpet.  Its been walked on for 25 years and the cats love destroying the tassels.  Oh Well
