My father (and I) have always wanted a WWII 1911. I finally found one at a decent price that I’m happy with.

From what I know:
1942 from serial number
Matching numbers frame and slide
Late war reinforced grips
Obviously match sights were installed at some point
G marked barrel

Not sure on everything else at this point.
Overall I’m happy with it and I think he’ll love it.

I don't know what happened to my Uncle's.

Field grade officers were allowed to bring their pistol home.

I hope my cousin didn't get rid of it.
