Anyone use this powder to clone MK262? I just loaded some rounds to max load from the hornady manual (25.5 grains)and got 2767 FPS from my 18" BA premium barrel. I only chronod the load and haven't shot for accuracy but I'm hoping for good results.

nope, but 748 works well with 55-65gr

TAC or 8208 for 77gr

I second this.  8208 is my go to for heavy bullets in 223.

^^ Yup, for me 748 has worked good with 55-60gr bullets. I tried it on some 65gr and accuracy (precision) sucked.

I use TAC for my 77g loadings.

JRB has an entire series on this. Below video is 748 and 760.

I use:

Varget
RE-15
VihtaVuori N140
H4895
IMR-8208-XBR

for all bullets weighing 68+ grains in .223.

You can add Norma 203-B to the list because it's basically equal to RE-15.

The only ball powders I would consider would be TAC or AA-2520. I don't like BL-C (2) in anything, CFE-223 is basically identical to BL-C (2) on the burn charts and powder charges so I haven't bothered even trying it.

I currently use 8208xbr and have used TAC in the past

check with @popnfresh that's one of his favorite powders so I'm sure he'll chime in with his results.

Yes I use W748 for 55-90gr in 223 but have not tried cloning a load.

I use 26.2gr W748 with 55gr 2267s for 2950fps out of my 18"
I use 24.5gr W748 with 77smk for 2690fps out of my 18"(don't really use 77s much, I stick with 55fmjs and 90smks)

pretty good (imo) thread from a couple years ago RE MK262  ,  I didn't reread it to see if OP's Win748 was covered.

Adding as I always try to remember to with this clone ...... be careful, follow reloading principles, very commonly MK262 threads end up exceeding max book values, don't assume what works in one rifle/reloader combo will be safe in your rifle with your reloading process.

XBR works better than TAC and others in my stuff with Nosler CC 77g's, when I developed mine I didn't have CFE to include in the tests - if at some point I need to redevelop I intend to include it the next time, never considered 748.

I use 8208xbr for 77 gr bullets.

I get more velocity from TAC, but worse accuracy.

Hard to get as fast as real mk262.

I have done some cfe223 loads.

Base GI BH  04 mk262 , 20 in GI 1-7 twist A2 bbl. 70F. AVG 2807fps.

CFE , LC case, cci41, 77Nosler.
23.5:  2540 avg
23.8:  2560
24:   2611
24.2:   2626
24.5:   2672

No pressure issues, haven't tried any higher loads. To get 2800 would prob take 25-25.5 gr.

Try 8208xbr

I shot BH MK262 back to back with my 8208xbr loads and I bested it by 14 ft/sec avg and my es/sd was nearly half of the BH load. test was with a lab radar so I trust the results. craziest part was the primers on my load looked perfect and the bh load looked like it was pretty warm! flat primers and slight extractor bend on the rim.

my load was 23.2gr many people chase the next node which is ~24gr

I've matched BH MK262 with 23.6gr of 8208 XBR in once fired LC brass. Measured same day in same barrel, BH was ~2650 as were my handloads.

Buddy tried the TMK version and they picked up ~30fps over the SMK, but I've never loaded the TMK and can't verify my load would scale in the same fashion.

Can't remember on the primers. Neither looked terrible, if I'm remembering the BH correctly, and I use that load to this day without issue. Wasn't my BH ammo, but me and a buddy who doesn't reload were interested to see if handloading was able to meet and/or best the $1/rd BH. Of course it was able to, haha.
