I found one locally that appears to be in great condition by photo. However someone screwed a foregrip into the stock. What are the odds of finding a bottom stock and what would y’all pay with that kind of risk on it being like that?

The guy took the ad down but it was a piece of laminate it actually matched pretty closely lol. Said it was attached with two wood screws. I just want to know what the original persons plan was? Kicking in doors with a 70 years old bolt action?

Out of curiosity what are the 308s going for? I've been trying to find one for awhile now.

The .308 one I shot was a fine milsurp rifle.  Probably 2, 2.5 MOA rifle. Decent trigger.

Be careful with those. If my memory serves, Century bubba'd those to 308 so they'd be easier to sell in a common caliber.

I bought a new still wrapped MAS rifle back in 2008. I’ve never shot it and every so often I think of selling it. It is a 7.5 French.

What did something like that cost?

I got one for $60 at BIG5 about 15 years ago, and always thought it was unused, because the French surrendered.

But now I find out they were arsenal refurbished.

7.5 French MAS is no big deal.  It is almost the same as 7.62x51, just a couple mm longer case.  Brass is available and it uses normal .308" bullets, despite the 7.5 vs 7.62 in the name.  I've got Lee dies for it but I think RCBS and others make them as well.  You could probably form brass by cutting down .30-06 Spr brass like people do for 7.7 Jap, but it is easier to just buy it.  You can pretty much use 7.62x51 loading data for it.  I think I even found some commercially loaded ammo for it a few years ago.  I think it was either Hornady or Prvi Partisan if I am remembering right.

FWIW, I have a MAS 49/56, and it is a surprisingly well designed and built rifle.  The French may not be known for their engineering prowess, but they certainly can't blame their rifles for their lack of military success recently.
