I can't say, sorry. But enough people know me in person on this site to know I'm not blowing smoke up your skirt.

Can't wait! Usually not a fan of binary or FRT but I would absolutely grab an FRT for an M249s.

Would someone with an unmolested M249S measure the length of the slide hammer spring in their rifle?

I am curious as to whether FN went to a stouter spring, a longer spring, or both.

Is unmolested the 2018 run before the recalls?

Mine has never had any recall work done.  I can see no difference between the slide hammer spring in it and the newest model that's for sale at my local dealer.

I had the first recall done.  I'm leaning towards not doing the second since there isn't much info on what they are doing.  When I talked to FN about the first recall, they wouldnt say anything specific.

Thoughts?

What did they do to it with the first recall?  I've never seen pictures of what was done.  Did the trigger pull change at all?

Here's the 2022 recall info:  https://fnamerica.com/fn-m249s-safety-recall/

The 5th question down on the above FAQ addresses the difference (per FN) of the 2017 recall and the 2022 recall.  The 2017 recall didn't affect the trigger pull.

Thanks for the reply.  So all they did to yours in 2017 is switch out the slide hammer then, correct?   Can you post pictures of that part from a few angles please?

Nope.  My M249 is unmolested.

Another 2022 owner looking for the trigger fix. I’ll be watching and hoping smart people out there come up with something. Thanks to all.

So someone is going to fix this BS trigger? I’m so upset I spent all my savings on my dream rifle and didn’t get a 4lb trigger more like 20lb

While we're at it, how about a group order of 300BO barrels like Noveske did? I think they would sell really well now there are a bunch of these out in the wild.

My dealer has two 1st gen 249s. A Para and a standard. Both NIB and both with the original light trigger. How desirable are these and what are they worth?

The para's sell for ~$500 more than the standard.  There isn't a gen 1 or gen 2 of the M249S - they are all the same.  Just that new ones already have the recall work done, but to my knowledge, there is no difference between an M249S from 10 years ago that has had the recall work done, and an M249S from a month ago.

That said, the value of not having the recall work done is unknown.

Sorry... though there were different generations. These are both from 2016 NIB... Both have triggers that feel like a regular ar trigger. Didn't know if that added value or not

I assume it does, because if you go to someone who knows about these and the "recall" and give them the option of buying one M249S that hasn't had the recall work or another that has had the work done - but otherwise the same, I'd assume that 9 times out of 10, the person will pick the one without the recall work done.  How much that's worth to them...  who knows?  I'd assume it's not much.  $100 more?  probably...  Would that person pay $1000 more?  Probably not.

The striker is being pushed up against the stock buffer and recoil rod and the old one didn’t.  pull the stock down and 4lbs comes back. If the rear of the striker was cut back some it could fix it a 1/4 in or so shorter in the rear. I’m trying and I believe this is the fix.  I have pictures of the first gen this recent gen (my rifle) and the fully auto one  and I believe this will fix it. A spring change alone  will not work with it having to be pushed up against the buffer to charge it.

M110b I looked at mine yesterday and i agree with you on the hammer being pushed against the buffer.
