At an estate sale today.

Enfield no 5 mk1 rd (f)
Dated  12/45

Edit:  it is my friends wife who is selling.  She has no idea of fair value for this so it wasn't priced.  I am a shooter not a collector but am interested in such a piece of history.Attachment Attached File

I would pay 500 for it.

What does the bore look like?   That is the deal breaker for me.  If it’s a sewer pipe that kills the value.  Bright and shiny that helps

On the side it is marked "SM".  On the face in very small print it is marked
(as close as I can tell) NGT or possibly NG7.

I bought it.

What is meant by the sight markings is, what is the maximum range marked on the sight?

The Jungle Carbine had an adjustable rear sight that only went up to 800 yards or a simple flip over sight.
Often you see #5 Carbines that originally had flip sights that have been fitted with #4 Rifle sights that go to 1300? yards.

This one goes to 800.

ETA: Thanks for clarifying.

Remove the top hand guard. if this is a real jungle carbine, the barrel would have flutes (they look like flats cut into the barrel) near the receiver. If not this is a fake.

Bolt handle looks correct.

Receiver looks correct too with lightening cuts but hard to tell from pictures.

More pictures would help.

They weren't used very long after WWII because they sucked so bad. It would be cool to see more of your rifle.  You can get them mint for around a grand but usually you see them for $600-$800 depending on condition.

none of what you stated is correct.

They had a zero problem but worked. Their zero would wander around.

Price depends upon if it is fake or not.

A bad fake $300 ie ishiapore in 308

A santa fe fake could be $300-$500

real $600-$1600. depends on condition and how likely it is to be real.

Everything I said is fact.

Wandering zero on a rifle is the epitome of sucking as a rifle and one of the reasons they got rid of it.

And my pricing is based on gunbroker ending prices over the last 6 months.
