Ran some lead bullets for Cowboy Action. What is the best chem to get the lead streaking out of a barrel?

You place the brass screen and expandable rubber plug on the end of the rod, and expand the rubber until you have a tight fit in the bore. By pulling the brass screen through the bore, the lead becomes embedded in the screen and is pulled out of the bore. The process is simple and extremely effective.

This is what I use, gets the job done fast

Basically any chemical which will dissolve lead into solution isn't really something you want to be around if you can help it. Physically cleaning it is thankfully not very difficult.

Best solution is the Lewis lead remover kit as shown above.
Brownell's now own the company.
All the older revolver and lead bullet auto shooters owned one because they WORK and won't damage the bore.

Another "Expedient" option is a used bore brush with some 100% Copper Chore boy pot scrubber.
Cut and pull off a couple of strands and wrap around the brush, then brush the bore.
WARNING:  Buy ONLY 100% COPPER Chore Boy.  Most off brands are copper plated stainless steel and will ruin a bore fast.

Yet another takes some time, and that's to liberally coat the bore with Kroil and let soak a day or so, then brush out the loosened leading.  The Kroil is such an effective penetrater that it infiltrates under the leading and loosens it.

Mix 3 parts H2O2(peroxide) with 1 part white vinegar. binds up the lead and run your patch through.
Wear gloves and don't drink or smoke. Then wash your hands.

This is one of the chemicals I was talking about in fact. Sure it'll remove lead from a bore - by turning it into lead acetate. Lead acetate is very bad news and you really don't want that around.

That mix also absolutely EATS gun bluing.

There are just too many good methods of cleaning out lead to take chances with what is essentially a warfare nerve agent like the mix.

As above, any chemical that will dissolve lead will dissolve you before the lead.

Just used the chore boy method. Ran some patches of hopes #9 first, let it sit for a bit. Then wrapped some (all copper) chore boy around a brass bristle brush, screwed it onto a rod, and went to town. The bore is now nice and shiny and free of lead.
