This, exactly. I am the laser safety officer at my place of employment, and it amazes me what can be readily purchased without any knowledge or training. I don't want any restrictions added, but some of these import lasers can be downright dangerous. The green is particularly bad, because it uses frequency doubled IR to make the green. A less reputable manufacturer will leave off the IR filter to save a few bucks. Now you have high power IR coaxial with the green. Kids also have no comprehension of how powerfull a few mW can be, and will stare in a beam for no reason.

I like my toys, but people need to be made aware that lasers aren't toys!

Yup lasers arent toys... Been an LSO a few times in my life.
