It has obviously caused the M11/9 to jump in price and M10s and M11A1s will follow behind, especially with Lage saying they will eventually produce a 5.56 upper for them as well.
With that said I really don't think it will have an effect on the price of the lower end M16 market such as M16 conversions or RLLs. The person who has the desire and funds to drop $20k on a military grade rifle, with endless versatility and half a century worth of reliable combat service, like a M16, probably isnt going to go with a M11/9 with Lage Max11/15 upper just to save a couple thousand.
There have been many thread along the lines of "If you could own just one MG what would it be?"
And almost universally the answer is an M16. When new buyers are on the fence between buying a M16 for $20k vs buying a AC556 or FNC for $15k most people agree the M16 is well worth the extra $5k.
Plus its realy not that much cheaper. Right now an M11/9 will set you back a minimum of $7k, probably more when you factor in taxes, shipping, transfer fees, replacement parts (macs are notorious for have cheaply made cast internal parts). Then the Lage Max11/15 upper is supposed to cost $3k.
I think the big appeal is for those who already own an M11/9. They were probably not in the market for a rifle caliber MG, but for just $3k most will buy it just for some variety. There will be some new owners, but these will likely be people on a very tight budget. There is no way they can afford to spend $20k on a M16, but if they sell a handful of semi-autos they never shoot they can pick up a entry level MG.
TL:DR
The Max11/15 will increase the value of the mac series of firearms but IMO will have little impact on the other High end 5.56 cal MGs. if you are in the market for a M16 I wouldnt hold off for prices to go down, those that have been collecting MGs for longer than most of use have been alive all agree that the prices never go down. Today's overpriced MG is tomorrows steal.
