Did Mitchell Mauser or any other reproduction company make a 308 version to mimic the Israeli Mausers?

Looking at one a friend has and I am trying to put together a fair price for it. It is obviously a reproduction rifle, exactly like a Mitchell Mauser. However, it is chambered in 308 and marked both 308 and 7.62 on the barrel under the hand guard.

I want to say that Zastava of Serbia did turn out some commercial versions of their M48 Mausers in .308. I don't have one but I think I recall seeing one somewhere before.

It looks like a put together rifle from various surplus  mauser parts. Stock looks Brazilian .

Basically  a fantasy piece.

Definitely a poor reproduction. However the fit and finish and reproduction markings matching across all the parts indicates it was manufactured as a complete new rifle. I can’t find what company did it. Mitchell’s sells the same bayonet that came with it. Everything points that direction. I can’t find any info they had a 308 rifle made like it.

I for one like it. A front sight hood would be gravy for me. The stock looks good & I would offer up $400 to 500 w/o a second thought if it chambered and locked up.

I'm curious as to where that receiver came from. I don't think I've ever seen a side rail marking of Karab 98b. I know there was a Kar 98b but that was essentially a Gew 98 with a bent bolt

It's a thing.  Interwar K98b rifles were marked as such on the side rail.

Total put together of some sort...siderail marking is correct for a Karab 98b, which in original trim are pretty scarce. But someone put this together...
