Had an amazon gift card so I ordered the WS KO, extra belts, and a strop. I have several very nice knives, and some average kitchen knives I need to sharpen. My goal is to pick up a bunch of dull yard sale knives for practice. You guys got any pointers before I start grinding? I want to get a $1 knife razor sharp before I even pick up a $200 knife

watch some youtube vids of the proper way to use it.  Practice, Practice, Practice.

They're great tools, but they can also fuck up a knife real quick if you're not careful.

I agree the WS can cause a lot more damage than good. Great for convex grinds but if your looking to put a flat grind on anything keep it away from the WS. Take a look at the Lansky or KME sharpening systems. I've used both, and had a lot of success with each.

Well it arrived today, started using it. I sharpened a black tip filet knife that was rusted from Irma water, my old timer Sharp finger eBay knife that has never had an edge, and re profiled my benchmade that has a broken tip. All 3 will shave hair now. I’m still not confident enough to go anywhere near my wife’s good cooking knives. I NEED yard sale knives for practice. But I love this thing.

That old timer will be dull again next time you pick it up.  Mine won't hold an edge for anything.

Nice to hear OP. I am thinking of picking one of these up.
