I wish i would have sorted my zoning out before applying. My local municipality would not let me go the minimal / No Impact Zoning Route. They are pretty heavy left leaning, and considered anything firearm related, to not be no impact. Even after having letters from surrounding boroughs, and my attorney. That's where the fun began. I went the use by right route. AKA Conditional use.
I had to go to the local monthly Counsel meeting, and ask the conditional counsel to hear me. They agreed which allowed me to apply. I sent my app to them, and had to wait the following month for a conditional counsel meeting. They went over my application. Asked if i would have industrial equipment, and loud banging manufacturer noises going on past 10PM. They seen the word Manufacturer and got frightened. After explaining I already do what i am asking to do, on a personal level. They approved without conditions. With that approval. I then had to put ADS in the local News Paper. I mean actual paper. The one no one reads anymore. After the ad sat for 30 days, We had a Special Counsel meeting, incase anyone seen the ad from the paper thankfully no on reads, and wanted to give me arguments, or complain. I actually missed that hearing as my son was born, but it was approved. After the final approval, the ATF Agent said we have 5 days to meetup or your application expires. WE had already renewed it twice. Apparently they have 60 days to finish out the application, we got around some loop hole to renew the 60 days by transferring me to a new agent.
The in person interview was great. He was very respectful, didn't care to look around, showed me his personal A&D Book as a reference on how to, scenarios made sure i knew what i was getting into, and said "You have officially invited the federal Government into your life" a few times. Otherwise it went well. Took about 1.5-2 hours. I had my license within a few days. Where i am. PA. I had to take that license, and go to the local sheriffs office, and apply for the local firearms license as well.
Hope everything goes well man, good luck, and congratulations! Maybe, get your A&D Book, and run some hypothetical scenarios, make sure your doing the proper paperwork.
Also, its best to have some cash to throw around when applying to wholesalers.
