Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - Is it worth upgrading to a GSG 16?

Hi everyone
Just got into all this with a used GSG-5 SD which I love but unfortunately has the cracked barrel and a cracked left side Bolt Carrier. The Carrier is easily fixed but the barrel is a problem as I understand the new barrels are different and won't fit a GSG 5 and original barrels are no longer made.
I should just go out and buy a 16 but I really love the SD look. Does anyone know if the Cocking Tube Housing from a 5 will fit a 16?
Alternatively has anyone tried to adapt the receiver for a 5 to fit the new barrel form?

yeah, it  wouldn't  be worth trying  to fix it.......just buy a GSG16 like you stated, at least the mags you have will fit in it
