Can anyone tell me more about what I have here? I bought it years ago from the CMP.

The serial number is 1781963, while the barrel is a 1943 Underwood. The stock is marked WRA, and AAF which I think shows it was rebuilt by Augusta.

Thanks!

Very nice DCM carbine.  My Dad saw an ad for two M1 Carbines in the Pennysaver, late eighties or so.  $400 for both, which was somewhat salty at the time.  When he found out one an Irwin Pedersen, and the other a Winchester, his wallet couldn't come out faster.  No idea if they were DCM or not, but certainly not Blue Sky or Excel.  Matter of fact, the IP is still wearing the original style rear sight and no bayonet band.  Seller said the IP came from a prison.

Enjoy!

Do you still possess the CMP documentation?  If CMP had their hands on the carbine in the past, they should be able to confirm it.  Provenance enhances eventual sales price.  The IP marked carbines are not as rare as people think.  I got one from the CMP via auction back in the day.  Its fully documented and my kids won't sell it unless they get a pretty penny for it.  HTH
