If you had $2000 to spend. What 50 caliber rifle would you buy NEW.  NOREEN ULR-50 BMG or SHTF 50 Single Shot or is there another one out there? I have  $2k  and not looking to spend any more then this. I have optics already.

I wouldn't buy either of them.  I don't like shell holder designs and the looks of that Noreen...well....just not for me.  As for the SH option...I'd pass on that too if I were you.  I ordered one a few years ago and it came out of the crate with major extraction problems.  It was never test fired before leaving the factory so I had to go to the immense hassle of returning it for repairs.  I got it back a month later and, although somewhat improved, the extraction problem was still an issue.  I returned it for the last time and went out and got an AR-50 and have been happy ever since. Some guys here are happy with their SH 50's so your experience may vary from mine. IMO, you get what you pay for when it comes to a 50.

I've been happy with my Ferret 50. Not sure what the current prices are, but when I bought mine ~10 years ago, they were in that price range (upper only...standard AR lower is used).

ETA: looks like their entry level upper is $2500.

Why does it have to be new?  You can save quite a bit of money buying used. Especially when the budget is only 2 grand for a 50. Have you checked the EE?  (Hint, hint) :)

No, just no.  Your money, your face, etc... but *I* would not buy any of the crop of "cheap" 50s....

Which one was in the video with the bolt speared through the shooters chest? Did he live?

I would hold off until you can afford an AR50.

Serbu BFG50
I liked building and shooting the carbine barreled length rifle the most.

I had a Safety harbors 22 inch upper. Picked up a stubborn mule lower and a magpul PRS stock with heavy butt pad. Was a great boomer for the money. If it wasn't for my back surgery, would not of sold it.  Solid upper. Good support if needed too.

If I had $2,000 to buy a .50, what would I buy? That's easy, Apple stock. Wait until it increases enough to sell it and then get an AR50 or similar.

Not intending to bash the lesser costing guns and their manufacturers, but I would seriously consider a “used” higher quality gun.  I’d prefer a used higher quality gun over a new lesser one.  Better trigger, proven reliability, and piece of mind.

FYI, a used AR50 recently went for just over 2k on GB.

Good luck!

No idea who this guy is, but he has the Serbu RN50 for $1700 and has 100 rounds with it.

I have been watching it myself as he drops the price.  It would complete my Serbu collection.

You can buy the RN50 cheaper than that new.

Yea but you fell into a gold mine.

OP, I agree with the others.  I looked at Safety Harbor, Bohica (so glad I didn't) and several other upper style guns but ended up getting an AR-50.  It's a tad on the heavy side compared to the upper only guns but I think you will be happier in the long run.

The Barrett single shots are another good buy but they usually sell higher than the AR, closer to 3k.

Heck, I bought a used and abused deuce and a half off Craigslist for 2500 ish. Then traded it to a gun shop in town a new in the box M82a1.

Work things from different angles. It can pay off.

Local volunteer fire dept has a deuce and a half and M37 Dodge that just sits under an one sided shelter. Been trying to get either one of them, but they won't turn either of them loose.

If you ever get the deuce let me know. Ive got about 2 dozen 9.00x20 NDT tires mounted on M35a2 split rims you can have. M37's are nice, parts are getting harder to find. Craigslist is a good place to look for trucks.

I still have a XM818. I'm spoiled to power steering and I liked the look of the 5ton more.
