If you look at the pick of "Blue smoke" you see a guy holding a firearm but it has no buttstock. I'm predicting an MP5.

I hope so , either that or a hk53 , I also hope they have spent the time acquiring equipment to make the whole thing here in the US without need of foreign parts . That would be great for the spare parts market.

Yeah, the rumor is PSA will be unveiling MP5 clones at SHOT 2018 and is shooting for the $1k price point. I won't be surprised if PTR unveils one as well. It's going to be interesting.

It's going to be interesting how this plays out. If history is any indicator, many people have found out that there's nothing more expensive than a bargain priced MP5. The amount that ends up being spent on in spec. replacement parts to get it functioning, usually makes any intial savings nil. But if someone can pull it off, it will be a grand slam. A functioning $1k MP5 would be gobbled up like candy, but roller locks can be cantankerous machines if corners get cut and not done properly. Just my .02

If PTR makes an MP5 clone for $1,000 I will at least 1, probably 2.

|
The $800-1k price point was put out by PSA. I have no idea what PTR's price will be but personally I'd grab a PTR out of the 2.

PSA is producing their PA10 308 at about $700. I can seriously see them able to do an MP5 clone at $800. The big question is, like so man have said, can they make it work?
The challenge then becomes, getting the pistol caliber AR crowd to buy in. I personally don't see the purpose of a PCC if ranges ever exceed 100 feet. A short barreled rifle or AR pistol in 5.56 or 300BO will always trump the performance with significantly better reliability. |
|
Did PSA say what they are going to offer for 800 bucks , Was it just the barrel and receiver or a complete working firearm ? I thought somebody had mentioned the 800 price tag was just for what you saw in the picture they released ?

I'm only interested in HK53 clones now. Too bad PTR makes the 32 with the 2 pin receiver, looks goofy.

PTR-94? Depending upon the barrel they go with, I'm potentially a buyer of more than one.
PSA? lol |

Lionhart, what type of barrel would you like to see if PTR offers a new firearm ?

Quoted: That's the general consensus from most everyone(PTR over PSA). PTR hasn't stated their price point though. I would assume it will be in the Zenith or Omega price point, just sheer speculation on my part though, I may be off by a mile. View Quote |

Atlantic has been offering the PTR line since it was called JLD 10 plus years ago . They have had a few growing pains over the years but have continued to offer a solid product. In the last few years they have been investing in new equipment and making their existing product lines better. I think we are going to see PTR continue to grow their product line etc over the next few years.

Needs to be offered as a pistol, most people will be putting a brace or SBR’ it and a barrel swap is not cheap. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes |

With AR's going for $400 even $1000 for an MP5 is not going to bring a big market like someone may think. HK's have been hugely overpriced for a long time and really only attract a select group because of it. To actually attract and get the poor masses to start buying HK clones they need to be competitive with AR's and the Scorpion. I think $700 would be a more realistic price to start turning some heads, $600 could do some real damage. I bet the current MP5 clone makers are biting nails thinking they won't be able to sell their guns with the standard $1000 mark up if realistic prices come to bear. PSA MP5 in the raw. Expected price of $800? https://s26.postimg.org/75a3be57d/Universal_Carbine_Adapter_on_hinge.jpg View Quote |

I’d take a mp5 built by ptr over PSA, and would probably buy 2. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes |

Omega? And the true sd or the k? I’ve been looking at the omega sd from Atlantic

Im a buyer if it works and is in the $1000 range. A 53 would be awesome also!

Love having more roller lock options.
I don't know why but they just call to me. My ARs are more practical, ergonomic, cheaper, easier/cheaper to source parts, easier to wrench on, easier to find other people to wrench on them, more accurate, more modular, etc, etc, etc...the list goes on forever. To me, it's just not about practicality. I fell in love the first time I shot an MP5 (burst and full-auto), and now I want one of each! I would add a 53 and/or 33 to the stable with a quickness. I've also been eyeing the PTR PDW 308....might happen this year. |
|
I'd consider that.
I still want one of their 7.62x39 pistols converted to SBR. I just can't handle another project right now LOL. |

Looks rattle canned..may just be picture. Welds look good. Interested to see price point and specifics, where do they acquire parts etc.
|
|
Pretty sure it’s just a shitty picture. They have great finishes on their guns.
|

If someone made a roller locked belt fed Id shit my pants. Ptr or Zenith should get on that.
|
|
|
Looks nice, but no way in heckler I'd ever shell out almost $2000 for it.
|
|
I think the street price will settle out to be less than the suggest MSRP on PTR 91 series of 9 mm pistol.
|
|
Retail it for under $1000.00 and I'd be a player. Otherwise no thanks.

I would LOVE a PTR built HK53 clone that was registered-sear "ready" with a full-auto carrier and a clipped and Pinned 4pos trigger housing. Mfg/sell it as a "pistol" so I can use it with my sear installed or register it as an SBR on a form 1.
I aint got $7,000 and a year to spend on another host |
