I've got like 14 lbs of TAC (two 8 lbs-ers I'm working through), but never actually bought a 1 lb bottle of TAC, so I've been keeping it in an old bottle of something I ripped the label off of. I had to do the same thing with Shooter's World Major pistol! It drives me crazy. If anyone has any empties (just one really) of TAC or Major Pistol they could mail to me, I'd be super grateful. Just PM me and I'll pay for the shipping costs. Thanks guys! -ZA |

Be careful when transferring from the 8 pound jug to the 1 pound bottle. The openings are close to identical, but you could see a LOT of powder flow all at once when you start pouring. I’d get a funnel for that purpose. In my experience, ALL plastic powder funnels have some level of inherent static.
I’d do the transfer on a tabletop-height surface that’s otherwise completely empty. And I would also transcribe the jug’s lot number to the small bottle. My OCD also says to record the date you refilled the bottle. |

eta- provided empty doesn't trigger HAZMAT. Sounds crazy, but wouldn't surprise me. |

Not silly, I do the same thing.
Fill a 1 pound can from an eight pounder and dump powder into PM. One thing that I do is put a blank paper label on can and it says Refilled form Lot #xxxx. Then I know what's in the can. No label means lot on the can is correct. |

I like dryflash3’s process. It’s simple, safe, and it works.
Chem labs use the same process. “This 500ml bottle of X was refilled from the 3,000ml jug with lot number ###.” When a pharmacy fills a prescription, it’s essentially medications being repackaged into smaller containers. You get a nice new prescription label, but the pharmacy has records of the original container (manufacturer, expiration, quantity, etc.) and that data is connected to your Rx number. |
