Over the last year or so, I've accumulated six lever action rifles, four of which are 30-30...two Marlins and two Winchesters.

If I had to let one go, which would it be?

1. Marlin 336W (JM) with new Walnut stocks hand finished by me. Cross bolt safety delete added. Gun was unfired when purchased.

2. Marlin 336 "Texan" saddle ring circa 1969. Good condition, one light spot of pitting on mag tube.

3. Winchester 94, mint condition circa 1972

4. Winchester 94AE Ranger. I think '90's production. Has cross bolt safety, a little wobble in front hand guard. Finish is great and the thing is a tack driver.

You mean Winchester model 94 and 94ae correct?

I've never heard of a md92 in 30-30.....

I'd say let the 94AE go. Crossbolt safeties on leverguns are an abomination; at least the Marlin safeties can be deleted and don't have a huge depression in the side of the receiver.

None. Or the 336W. But none is a better answer.

The 94AE.

94AE would be my choice to cull. The Marlins in my opinion are better built guns and I never liked the big, gross Winchester cross bolt safeties. They just destroy the lines of the gun, every time I see one it's like they are shouting to me, "Look at my giant ugly ass!!!!" "Look at ME"....

I vote the '69 Texan but only if you sell it to me.  That's my birth year and I have been looking for one.

I would keep all four but if one had to go it would be the angle eject model 94.  I have nine lever actions, four of which are .30-30s; Marlin 336C, Win 94 SRC Trapper, Win 94 Classic, and a Mossberg 472.

Can’t have too many lever action rifles and definitely not too many .30-30s.

I'm not much of a Marlin guy but here's my $0.02

If I had to get ride of one I'd sell the 336W or the 1972 94. The 336W by itself isn't that collectible other than the JM stamp to some though I would understand wanting to keep if if you finished the stock yourself. The older 94 would be smack dab in the middle of the sintered metal receiver years so they aren't that collectible either though they can be great guns.

In that situation I would sell #1 and the 94 AE. I just like the older guns.
