I'm working on my first home stabilized wood knife handle.

I have dry sanded down to 400 grit. Normally at this point with natural wood I would do some wet sanding with Tru-Oil to start filling in the pores as I worked down to the final grit. Can I do that with stabilized wood? If so what grit should I start wet sanding at? Should I use the Tru-Oil, or would something else like boiled linseed oil work better?

For stabilized wood I typically go up to 1000 or 1500 grit and then buff with white compound and then pink compound. Stabilized won’t soak up oil like natural wood so the sand and filler approach doesn’t work as well. I hope this helps.

Finished. Didn't do anything but sand and buff.
