I was just browsing thru a large online retailers ffl network (ffl’s that are signed up with them to accept their packages for customers )
One near me was fucking $45. Is it just me or is that like the highest you have heard of ? What’s your fee structure. If you don’t want to share no worries. $20 for both long and handgun $15 if your got our state ccw $15 also if you are a repeat customer without a ccw after the 3rd transaction. Not doing nfa yet but maybe soon. |

$25 is the average around here. Some up to around $40 yet not many use him. Rest around $25.

I bought a 1911 from a guy in California earlier in the year. He told me that when he purchased it his FFL charged him $125 for the transfer. Ouch

$75 Transfer or $125....
Transfers are $75 regular price, BUT if they find the same gun in stock at any distributor, the transfer of your gun has an ADDITIONAL $50 Fee tacked on. I won a Glock 19 at a match, and since my go-to FFL decided to retire, so I was looking for a local place to transfer it. I was told that it would be $125 to transfer it in. Apparently the $75 only applies if you are transferring in something unique that isn't otherwise available. However, they make no distinctions between models or manufacturers, if I had been trying to transfer a full custom built JP AR-15 and they could find any other brand of AR15, it would not have made a difference... Buy local my hairy butt. |

I think my cousin paid like $50 at Cabelas for a Shield he’d bought from PSA. Most places in the area are reasonable. But I’m sure there are some that charge stupid prices.
My favorite shop closed. I don’t think he ever had me pay for a transfer. New shop is $5. I’ll live. |
|
My normal shop is $50. My favorite is $30 but it's way out of the way for me.

The most expensive I have seen is $50 and that's at two gun ranges owned by the same company. Both are filled with halfwit workers that know next to nothing about firearms but like to tell everyone what is what. The average is around $25, mostly pawn shops and "trading post" stores. Cheapest I had was a guy that did them out of his home for $10. I did a lot through him. Always had to sit around and chat with him for a bit. He really enjoyed having some company. He stopped doing them a few years ago though. For how liberal MN politics are at least we still have decent gun laws. For now anyways.

Guy I use charges $30 for up to 4, $5 each for any additional.
Used to be $25 for 5. |
|
Local next town over is $100
Local guy I know is $40 Neither will do online or internet sales. |

If they want me to buy guns from them, they should have competitive prices or offer enough in stock selection that im still getting something for paying more. |

50 bucks, for a stripped lower. dude was willing to sell me a stripped no name for the bargain price of 80 and SAVE me money though....
my local guy is now 10 bucks each(5 for additional SN after first one), but he will waive that if you bring a 6pack of micro brew. |

LGS charged $25 when they had just a store. Then they bought a bigger place with a range and raised their price to $40.
I found another place that charged $20. Listened to a load of "I know everything about guns" from the counter guy. Not sure if it was worth the $20. Worst place I never went to was a LGS that wanted $75. |
|
I had to pay 10% of cost of rifle... Rifle was $1200. I got screwed... Never went back. Fuck'em!

You are paying for service. It takes time log a gun in and out of A&D book. Then there is NICS check or other local checks and that takes time.
And, brick and mortar stores have expenses. Lights, Water, Sewer, Rent/Mortgage, and other utilities. A guy has to feed his family. Not as straight forward as it seems to some people. It is pretty easy for kitchen table dealer not charge much, but a full on stocking dealer....... And, now transfers of new stuff is not as advantageous with vendors having to collect sales tax. So I can see a dealer marking up a transfer if it is a gun they stock versus say custom Wilson Combat. Some SOT's charge even more for CIII transfers. Things could be worse like in some states where everything including ammo has to go through a FFL holder! A lot of smart mouths - know it all's forget that in a time not all that long ago. Only FFL's could order and receive ammo, brass, bullets, powder, and primers. There was no mail order of components and ammo. Or they were not even born yet or they are too senile to remember that! |

$75 was the highest i have seen in Central PA. It was at Gander Mountain for any transfers/guns not bought there
There are a few i know as that do $20 (home based guys) and that is the lowest around I would say the average around here is $35 |

A lot of places even list a price if you are a “on file” transfer ffl with that retailer. (Sportmans guide is one) |

I worked a gun store in VA the owner did not want to do transfers at all. Told me as an employee the transfer fee was $500 for me! Needless to say I went to another store for all my transfers.

I charge $20 per firearm.
Private party transfers required by the NY Safe Act are free. NY officially only lets us charge $10 for those. I ask the involved parties to cough up their own lock, another NY requirement. I'm about the only game left in my area, so I have no other fees from competition to report |

View Quote The headaches a few people will inflict upon you can mpact an FFLs willingness to do mail order transfers. As for profitability... pretty minimal. I pay the sales tax out of my fee, not tacked on. The fee covers the postage, alarm company costs, equipment costs. Maybe there's some small amount of profit in there. It's e hobby for me, nothing more.if I was relying on this for income, my fees would have to reflect that. |

Bought an Aero build kit. Had delivered to local FFL. $50 for transfer and another $4 for some blah, blah blah fee. Last transfer I will ever do though there.

Bought my first can (2007) from Lauer Custom Weaponry (the Duracoat pukes). When the can came in, I drove up to get it and was socked with a $158.25 transfer fee, about shit a brick right there. Needless to say, I've bad mouthed their asses every chance I get for the last 12 years!

I was trying to transfer two pistols and they wanted $50 each.
|

$20-25 at the small shops, $50 at the 'big' ones (or the more 'tarded small ones that won't be there much longer). $75 NFA.

$50 or $75 is what Gander charged a few years ago, I pay $20 at a little shop by my work

LGS was charging $50. That was about 10 years ago, I can only imagine those clowns charge more now. Haven't been since. I now use a kitchen table type guy (basement actually) who charges $20 for long gun and $30 for handgun, $5 for each additional on that visit
|
|
My guy is a flat $20 for up to five firearms. Worst is the LGS closest to me. $50...plus tax.
|
|
My guy is $25 for up to four, haven’t yet had a chance to exceed that. Great guy, he has the NICS check pre filled on his iPad so by the time I am done with the paper form I am cleared and ready to go.

$50. And they would only transfer used pistols that they don't have in stock. Nothing new.
.....they're out of business now. |
