Planning my next build and hit a snag. Does anyone know if there is a cap made that fits the battery cap of a maglite D cell?
NOT the bulb end, the battery end. Or know anyone who would make it for not a lot of money?
would be threaded internal to fit the areas in red circles.

Edit:
found it!
Litt Industries makes a bunch of cool maglite stuff. they have a glass breaker with cap. the cap is what i want. Tomorrow I'll call to see if they'll sell it seperately.

Check with sdtactical;

I know they offer some maglite parts on their website.

Take a look and see what they offer;

Can't say I've ever seen such a thing commercially available.

You're talking about an endcap for your endcap basically - right?

basically. it would thread onto the endcap. ideally with no additional OD and minimal length added

Unless the OP of the thread is not communicating what he wants correctly it appears that he is asking for an internally threaded part to accept the male threads of the end cap or a tube extension and not one with an external thread. So he is not looking for a traditional end cap that threads into the tube but for something I have never seen or heard about

you are exactly correct. part would be threaded INTERNAL, could be screwed onto a D cell maglite endcap (where you put the batteries, has a spring and spare bulb)

OP is looking for a CAP to thread onto the battery cover, once removed.

Got it. So something like this:

I believe that is a cap for the light bulb end. You'd use that if you were going to convert the maglite to a Form1 silencer. I don't believe the 2 ends have the same thread pattern. So, no.

Correct. That is for bulb end, which has larger diameter threads.

Curious about how this part plays a role in your build.

basic plan is a build similar to Gemtech Luna, using maglite barrel extensions. this will be the end cap, usable on full length or shorter.
