I picked up a headspace gauge for the AR I assembled.  It's a Forster NO GO gauge.  The note on the package says "this is the maximum headspace we recommend for chambering new bolt action rifles.  This is not a SAAMI- maximum measurement."

Should I use this on an AR?  I didn't see any mention of this note when I ordered the gauge.

Thanks for the help guys.

Don't take this as gospel, but a FIELD gauge would likely be your max chamber length, and a NO GO should be shorter than a FIELD gauge.
