I've been a home-based FFL and SOT since 2012 and this was my first inspection.

I was nervous, but it went very well with only some minor 4473 form issues (not initialing and dating corrected errors, I had the transferees initial any corrections but not initial and date.)

Overall, not an unpleasant experience like I was expecting at all.  The inspector/agent was very helpful.

Would have been vastly different in the Obama era.

Good!  It'll probably be awhile before I have an inspection but I hope it goes like that.

FIFY

Clinton and Janet Reno declared war on "kitchen table FFL's" right after the AWB passed. They used all kinds of "found" abnormalities to push people into just giving up their FFL rather than fight the system.

Nonsense.
Obama era was no different than the Bush era.
I had three different IOI's two premises inspections and two compliance inspections during the Obama era. All were conducted professionally and in accordance with ATF regulations and Federal law.

Those "found abnormalities" like operating their gun business in violation of local laws, including zoning and sales tax permits? Or not actually operating a business, but using the 01FFL for enhancing their personal collection?

Actually, very few of those FFL's were revoked. Most were given the opportunity to get legal and chose to give up their FFL.

This!  While no fan of any of the above mentioned people, I hear the "declared war on kitchen table FFLs" statement all the time.  I have yet to see a legitimate instance in which someone was strong armed out of their license.

What is a premise inspection? I’ve had a compliance inspection roughly every 5 years over the past 20 as well as the lovely Special Agent stop bys following up on some of these idiots in our industry.

Your initial interview with an IOI before they issue your license.
When I moved they came again.

Ahhh thanks, when they did mine I met the lady at our local ATF office... she was super helpful dealing with zoning issues.
