The real problem is that the 5L has a 3 lug on the muzzle end of the barrel that a shroud would need to slip over. The ones made for the HK94 won’t work because that has a smooth barrel and so you can simply slide a shroud over it.

Maybe cut out the front of the SD shroud just enough to clear the 3 lug?
I had one “Years” ago, so not sure what that would entail, as I don’t remember the front thickness |

From what I’ve read there are approximately 1,000 HK SP5Ls out there so whoever can make something work will stand to make a profit. Whole point on the SP5L is so people don’t have to do the SBR thing. Thanks, 1981 |

I love my sp5L makes a great carbine (yes 922r) with the a2 stock, yes it’s not as “cool” as a tail hooked braced short barrel set up. At the the range it makes zero difference to the target plus my shoulder/cheek love the real stock.
I’m okay with the long barrel I added a griffin 1/2x28 micro comp it looks great, protects the crown and actually is very mildly effective. When/if I move to a different state I will sbr it. |

As someone in a state that doesn’t allow SBRs or “pistols,” a shroud for the 16” barrel would be great. It’s really the only way I’d even consider buying the SP5L

I’ve been hoping for one to be made.
Preferably a retro ventilated shroud and not a faux suppressor.

HK should have made these as ordinary SP5’s with a pin/welded fake suppressor.
I ended up getting mine cut down and tri lug re-installed. |

As a wise man once posted here on arfcom: The SP5L would be a great candidate for conversion to an MP5SD (SP5SD?).

There's a few owners over at HKPro Forums who are utilizing faux suppressors from the CZ Scorpion. Seems to be working out for them and they look halfway decent.
