I installed a new hand guard on my old scar 16s and after completing the project I found these two small metal pieces... They are identical, flat metal with a curve, and a small ridge on one end. They don't seem to fit any radius I could find in the various parts.

Does anyone know where these little things go? Crush washer for size....

thats correct.  when you hear the ratchet sound when removing or tighening the barrel retention screws.   they go inside the cover to help retain them.
