I need some help folks. kinda torn between an m99 and an m95. I’m kinda stuck in the mag fed deal. Leaning m95. Is there a compelling reason to just get a 99 and forget about the magazine?

[#1]
If you can swing the extra thousand bucks or so then there's little reason not to get the mag feed option. You save maybe two or three pounds with a loaded mag vs the M99.

[#2]
Anyone have a line on a decent price for an m95?
|
|
|
[#3]
Only one I know in stock is from BHA at $8000.

GuncrewLLC, on gunjoker has a NIB for $6999 with one day left to bid. (0 bids as of this moment)
No affiliation, I’ve just done plenty of business with them. |

Just reading through some other threads. Some people were complaining about the pins holding the upper and lower together wearing loose? They said there was a big poa shift on hammer drop because of how loose it was?Any truth to that?
|
|
|
[#7]
I built and fired hundreds of M95's. It was my favorite to build and shoot.
The takedown pins were kept tight as hell on the ones I built. I have one I built and bought back around 2002 or so. The serial number is in the low 400's. It's still tight and is as accurate as the day I brought it home. It's been fed nothing but M8 AP. We built 25 or so for the SEALs. The upper was a slightly different configuration to allow them to be stored in an arms locker on a submarine. I wish I had taken a picture of one of them. |

Check with recoil gun works. They're an industry member here and post in the EE from time to time.

Yes both fixed barrels

I've said many times if you could only have one the 99 is hard to beat. It's a great value. It's nice to have a repeater but I just don't know how much I need it in a bolt action 50. If you were actually in the field working I might see where it's handy. You can actually shoot a 99 pretty fast if you need to. The vast majority of time I shoot mine it never moves so I just have the ammo right next to it so you don't even have to move. If I really need to put rounds downrange that's what the 82's are for

Even back when you could regularly find 99's right around $3k the 95's were still closer to $5k and that's if you could find one. It was easier to find a 82 than a 95. |

Every time we built a batch, they were all spoken for before we finished build up and test fire. I always liked building the 95's. I don't shoot mine as much now. But when I do, others always want to try it because of how short it is. Meant to build myself a Serbu BFG50 carbine. Those were fun to fire also. May get Mark to do me one. |

I didn't keep track of the total number we saw in that time but it was only a handful. That's why I always ended up back at the 99. |

Will there be a big difference in accuracy between the two barrels? M95 states chrome chambered. M99 states match grade.

No 10rd mags for the 95. There isn't enough room to rock in the mag behind the pistol grip

Gave up on waiting for the m95. Put a deposit down on an in hand 107a1. Still want a bolt gun one day. If a 99 pops up used I may take a gander at it. Or an ar50. Should have the 107a1 before New Years or shortly after. Once I get done paying for it lol.

Even for being a 50 it feels like Armalite overbuilt the shit out of it so much so it could probably withstand a nuclear bomb going off. It is extremely accurate, though. I kinda wish I'd have gone with the M99 or M95 instead only because of the weight savings. |
