At the gun show last weekend I was surprised to actually see a couple of Ruger Old Army .44s for sale.  Same table, one stainless and one blued, had both marked at $700.  I know, going price is whatever someone is willing to pay, but is this in line with what you've been seeing lately?  I don't have a BP revolver, and I SHOULD probably just buy a Pietta or something, but I've read these are the best.

Better than average price

I’m not sure on what they are going for, but $700.00 doesn’t seem out of line. I would venture to say that they are probably the strongest of the BP revolvers. It’s too bad they stopped making them. Get you a .45 Colt conversion cylinder for even more fun!

I have three of the Piettas and a conversion cylinder that I can swap between all three:

If they were fixed sights, that would be a great price, they typically go for around a grand.

Adjustable sights would be about average, with stainless guns going for $100 to $150 more, than blue ones.

There was a stainless one in the EE awhile back for around $850 that had adjustable sights. Thought about buying it but drug my feet until the ad disappeared.  Ended up grabbing a Uberti BP version of the SSA instead.

My dad just sold one that he had since the 1970’s for $800 on one of the auction sights, but it was unfired in the box.  He figured he was going to get $400-$500 for it.

At Tulsa show last fall there were several tables that had them starting about 1050 and going up from there.

Sound like good prices to me. A little less than I paid a few years ago.

And they are better, if only for the improved sights.

Mine shoots best with .454 caliber balls.

Ruger Old Army revolvers just don't do anything for me. Might just as well get a Ruger Blackhawk and load BP cartridges. I like historical reproduction BP revolvers. Reproduction Colts are my favorites.
