As I mentioned in another thread about BLC-2 powder, my go to match load in an Armalite National Match rifle, 20 inch A2 was 68-69 grain bthp bullets over H322. IIRC the charge was somewhere between 20-23 grains. Would have to go dig out my load books from back then, but that is/was my load. Used it on 100 yd reduced target matches and at full distance/targets as well.
With the rifle bagged fore and aft, scope on carry handle (for load workup purposes only) the rifle would shoot 1.25-1.75 inch groups at 200 yards, if conditions were perfect and I didn't f&*# it up. It was way more accurate than I could ever shoot it offhand or from any other position. That made my task pretty easy. If I wanted better scores, all I had to do was .........Shoot better.
.
Depending on what kind of shooting you are doing you can reach a point of diminishing returns chasing ultra small groups, unless you're bench resting. By this I mean that if lets say, you have a rifle that can/will shoot 1 inch groups from a machine rest, but the best you can do with it offhand, prone, sitting etc is 6,7,8,9 ring, improving your technique through practice will be more beneficial to you. ymmv.
